Haha, she gave the India/America comparison in our class too. I wonder if she's as structured as Owens was (although, on a more humanly possible level). A lot of people just kinda space out in her class, and it's kind of a shame. I probably learn more because she makes it fun to listen. And to top it off, I like the text book too. Not only does it have grade-A pictures, but the stories and stuff are neat too.

My stereotypical optimistic side always comes out on top when people talk about school. I don't know why, but when I hear people say, "oh, I hate school!" something just buzzes in me. It's like a little teapot that wants to boil, but I won't let it because it sounds funny to say, "well, actually, I like school. I think it's fun." I like it because I enjoy knowing things, and even if I DO think I'm all mature right now, I know I'm only going to get better, and that even now I'm an intellectual weakling.

Okay, I've only been on the comp five minutes and already my vision is shaking and going out of focus. Craaaap...

What I feel like:

But yeah, after making that picture, I don't feel like that anymore. Spur of the moment, I guess.

...Homecoming... I don't have a date yet, but I think I'm going to try this year. We'll see (or I should say, I'll see, since I don't think it'd be prudent to post it as if I'm bragging or something), but I'm hoping for the best.

Right Josh.... You have slightly gotten me there. That was an incomplete and badly written argument on my part so I deserve to be pulled throught the streets behind a pickup truck....... I do actually have a better way of framing what I was trying to say, but It is going to wait for later.... because I am tired
Century's football team sucks

Um, I'm starting to regret inviting Josh... jk.
By the way Scott, um, hi. Ditto to everybody else.
I'm shirtless right now. WOO-HOO!

Okay, I deleted Larissa's double-post, my only act of editing thus far on these boards. I'm reassuring myself in my restraint. That didn't make sense.

Larissa, sorry I couldn't make your game tonight, but I have no money.

...

Since I can't think of any rants, I'll just make a friendly reminder. When you're done writing what you've... written, don't forget to PUBLISH. We wouldn't want to miss out on what you have to say, now, would we?

I'm starting to think Yo-Yo doesn't play cello. I don't know what else he would play, though, some stringy instrument. But it's not the banjo.

I'm pretty sure Andy got sick, because he complained of headache and then left after (I assume) second period. Last I saw he was off to the nurse. After second, people started asking me if I had seen him. So I guess he went home. He hasn't been here to post yet today, but it's relatively early yet so he may appear. But the truth won't be known until we hear it from from the horse's mouth.

Alright... as pointed out before, the Dual Nature of Christ is basically this: Jesus Christ, besides being Messiah ect., is both 100% God and 100% Man, and Son of God. Now the problem that Mike runs into is that he sort of changes the identity of God. "God is the sum total of all these "relationships" I've spoken of." I think it is pretty firmly established that God CREATED all that exists, so this shouldn't even be an issue because of the Identity Property (A is A), but since Mike doesn't recognize the operativness of the Identity Property I will slog along. I guess I mainly take issue with the way you describe people's connection to God. When you deny that God is a specific entity (I believe that you are saying He is a force), then there is the whole issue of "how can a force have a Son?" So this is the violation (and maybe Mike, this isn't an actual flaw like the Identity Property conflict, but just something to clear up), that if you can't actually claim that Jesus is the Son of God, then it's rather hard to justify speaking of Him as unique in the Dual Nature.
Now I realize that what I just wrote probaby makes no sense, but I managed to get on theological ground that probably is normally debated by theology Profs.
Cheers

Yeah, dual nature of Christ is pretty confusing. It's right up there with calvinism/arminianism dealio.

Ya know what else is confusing? Spanish 3. My teacher taught the last two days almost entirely in spanish. That means i have to pay attention so I can actually figure out what she's saying. That blows.

Bela Fleck rocks the funky world of funk, to steal Nathan Beich's phrase.

that was basically what i was saying. They're good musicians, but their music sucks.

Okey dokey Mike.

The dual nature of Christ is, I believe, that he is both 100% man, and 100% God. Have fun with that one.

Onto the fresher topic of musical taste, I think that band loyalty is pretty misleading. That's why I like the radio. When I'm driving, I don't have a CD player, so I can't mix some CD together, so I tune in on Laser. That does me fine. Why? Because I don't care about WHO wrote it, I care about the sound. Music is expression with sound. So I like stuff that either A) has interesting (to me) expression, or B) has an appealing sound. Some bands that write songs I like go and write songs I can't stand. I don't like any rap artists, but you might see me tapping my toe to some 'thumpin rythym'. Whatever.

Oh yeah, and talented people are cool. Like Yo-yo Ma (or whatever the cellist's name is) and Béla Fleck.

Yeah, Fritz is confusing, but he knows theology and that's a plus in my book!

Oh yeah... Mike's philosophy violates the Dual Nature of Christ. More later. School sucks

Yet again, not trying to piss anyone off, just having a friendly debate, cause the Soap Box is kinda boring right now. We need a common unifying thing to yell at each other about. It really helps, ya know? Just release all that first day of school frustration?

Catch up time. I was on vacation so I was not here (which is, of course, a key element of being on vacation).
My brother was at the Dave concert. Was it the one in Iron Mountain i think? Cause that's where he was. Dave sucks. His drummer is the only good part of the band. Their music blows.

I like Doritos.

I also have to wait for my driver's license. Having a summer birthday sucks. Especially when you take the test and fail, then they're booked five weeks in advance so you have to schedule the retest then.

Oh boy, more theology. All righty. Mike, I can see you're a thinker, me too. Well, at least I try to think, most of the time I just end up confusing myself. Then I go drink some Mountain Dew and I'm all better. Scott, you should set something up so we can meet each other. It's your job, cause you're the connecting factor here. Anyways, back to what Mike said. I think you're right, but for different reasons. Obviously, if you were here when we had our big theology debate a while ago (which I enjoyed greatly, by the way), you know I'm a Christian. But I also believe that God is in everything. I think God, basically, is life. If there weren't God, there would be nothing. I also believe that we as humans are, to use the technical term "totally depraved." In other words, left to ourselves, we could do absolutely no good things. We are completely incapable of good on our own. It is only the existence of God that gives us the ability to do good things. So yeah, I do believe God is in everything, since God is good incarnate, basically. I also agree with you that God is beyond any physical concept we have. I think He's just so amazingly big that nothing in this world can hold him. I also think though, that every good thing in the world is a tiny reflection of Him (which makes sense with what I said earlier, that basically every good thing is God). Music is a beautiful thing and reflects the beauty of God and the praises we'll sing in heaven, etc.

But, I also think that God is an actual Person, not just some force. I believe it's possible to have a personal relationship with Him, to talk to him and have him talk back (not audibly, necessarily, but through people, circumstances, the Bible, etc.) If you look at the world, the universe, everything, I believe you're looking at willful design. Someone designed it. Maybe you believe that too, I dunno.

Two things that I disagreed with/weren't discussed. First off, you never talked about the concept of sin. How does that fit in?
Second, you said, "Jesus is a part of God. But so am I and so are you." So how is Jesus different from us? Was he different? He was obviously a much better person than us. What does that mean, that he had more God than the rest of us?
